We had a look round the other hotels on the strip, they are extraordinary, but were always glad that we stayed at the Mirage. Pity as it spoiled the view of the hotel from the street.

Only downside was the volcano show and bellagio fountains were tuned off till late November because they have erected loads of scaffolding and temp seating along the strip and right outside the hotel for the Grand Prix. Location is spot on, right in the middle of the strip and close to Sphere - we flew in to see U2 and it’s a short walk through the Venetian hotel over the road direct to the venue. Hotel also holds a conference centre and a theatre, so as is large as you’d expect, but actually didn’t feel too massive. Best way to get around is Uber from the back door pick up spot. Staff were friendly in the little interaction we had. We don’t gamble and two under 21s with us so can’t comment on the casino.

Food and drink is as expensive as you’d expect - the best value we found was the snack bar next to Starbucks. Shame the nature reserve there has closed down. Pool is excellent, spacious and you can relax in the sunshine and feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle a few yards away. Downstairs there’s a good Vegas shop but the thing that marks the hotel out is the pool and location. The mini bar/tray with water and snacks is sensor triggered so even if you move anything you will be charged. Bathroom again was fine, withstood four of us, did look a little tired. Yes it’s a little bit old fashioned and could do with a bit of an upgrade but nothing major. Nice and spacious, air con worked well, plenty of plugs and wifi excellent. The hotel has a cool, almost retro vibe and a bit more relaxed than some of the other big hotels on the strip, which you need given the sensory overload everywhere in Vegas! We had a room with two queen beds. I was a bit concerned about negative reviews but we loved it.
